Cosmetic Dentistry Channelview, Texas 77530

SIMA Dental offers a full complement of general dentistry services. We provide comprehensive oral exams to determine the level of your oral health. Preventive dentistry helps you keep your teeth in the best condition. If your dental exam reveals any dental issues, a treatment plan is created to resolve those problems and restore your oral health.

Your teeth are professionally cleaned to ward off gum disease. Patients who have gum disease will be given recommendations on the most appropriate treatment for the stage of the disease. Periodontal disease must be addressed right away. If not treated, it can lead to tooth loss.

Our general dental services also include dental fillings, crowns and bridges. We use tooth colored composite filling material to keep your smile looking naturally beautiful. When a tooth has been weakened because of a large cavity or root canal treatment, we suggest a crown to protect the tooth and give it stability. When it comes to replacing missing teeth, you have options. We offer full and partial dentures, dental bridges and dental implants.

We also offer pediatric dentistry to provide your little ones with specialized care just for them. Keeping your child’s teeth healthy from the very beginning is important in establishing good oral hygiene habits.

Dental Exams and Cleaning

Dental Exams & Cleaning

A thorough dental exam allows the dentist to determine the level of your oral health, and whether or not any dental procedures are necessary in order to help you achieve or maintain it. Each tooth is checked for any signs of decay or damage, and the surrounding gum tissue is examined for signs of gum disease.

The hygienist checks the gums for pockets, which can indicate gingivitis or a problem with the gums. Once your teeth and gums have been thoroughly examined, you will receive a professional cleaning. Depending on the condition of your gums, the hygienist will determine the type of cleaning you will receive. Certain stages of gum disease may require a more extensive cleaning.

After your teeth have been cleaned, the dentist will check your teeth one more time. If there were any problems detected, a treatment plan will be created and the details will be explained to you.

Tooth Extractions

Tooth Extractions

When a tooth has been severely damaged by decay, breakage or other means and it cannot be salvaged, extraction is recommended. At SIMA Dental, we take every precaution to ensure that you are relaxed and comfortable during the extraction procedure. After the extraction is completed, you will be given instructions on proper home-care to promote swift, healthy healing.

Dental Fillings

Dental Fillings

When a tooth has a cavity, the decay is completely removed and an appropriate filling material is placed in the tooth to restore it. Composite resins are used in most fillings. This tooth colored material is comprised of plastic and ceramic or glass. Large fillings require that the composite be laid down in layers and cured or hardened with a special blue light. This ensures that the filling will be durable and will last.

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns & Bridges

Occasionally a tooth may require an extra-large filling. These restorations can render the tooth weaker, and therefore more likely to break at some point. A dental crown protects the tooth and provides stability. The same is true for a tooth which has had root canal therapy. The removal of the nerve of the tooth makes it brittle over time and more prone to break. A dental crown protects the tooth from breaking. Crowns are also used on the abutment teeth for dental bridgework.

Dental bridges are used to close the gap caused by a missing tooth or teeth between teeth. The teeth on both sides of the space are used to hold the bridge. These two teeth are called the abutments. Artificial teeth, called pontics, are used to replace the missing teeth. The pontics are attached to crowns, which are cemented on the abutment teeth. Bridges restore your smile and chewing surface of the missing teeth.
Gum Diseases Treatment

Gum Disease Treatment

Many people are not aware that they have gum disease (periodontal disease) until it is pointed out at their annual dental checkup. It begins when plaque buildup on the teeth turns into tartar. This substance is hard and a yellowish brown. It pushes the gum away from the tooth, creating pockets.

The pockets act as food traps. Food debris and bacteria eventually cause the gums to become inflamed. If the tartar is not removed, infection develops. This process leads to teeth that are not stable in their sockets. Eventually the teeth will fall out when the bone can no longer hold them in.
Your dentist will advise you of the extent of the gum disease and the best method to rectify the problem and promote healing.

Pediatric Dental Care

Little teeth need lots of care. As parents, you need to learn how to give your kids a good start in developing lifelong oral hygiene habits. We can help with that at SIMA Dental. We provide high quality pediatric dental care in a family-friendly setting. In addition to regular dental services to keep your child’s smile bright and healthy, we also provide additional treatments to aid in maintaining healthy teeth.

Dental Sealants

Dental Sealants

Children’s teeth have deep grooves and fissures that are susceptible to decay. Bacteria can get trapped in these areas and begin to eat away at dental enamel. Dental sealants prevent this from happening. The sealant is brushed on the tooth and it provides a barrier between bacteria and tooth enamel.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride is a natural mineral found in the earth’s crust. It is used to help strengthen the enamel of teeth and has been used for decades to prevent cavities from developing. Fluoride is often added to some foods, public drinking water and many toothpastes and some mouthwash products. It is highly recommended for children’s teeth to help prevent decay.

Child Dental Care

When to Start a Child’s Dental Care

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that kids have their first dental visit when the first tooth erupts; if not then, at least by the time they reach their first birthday. We will show you how to keep those budding teeth clean and healthy. We also show you how to instill good oral hygiene habits in your youngsters.

Sedation Dentistry

A visit to the dentist can be the source of anxiety for many people. In fact, it is common for individuals to experience some apprehension in this situation. Sometimes the level of anxiety makes it difficult for a patient to be comfortable in the dental chair.  Sedation can be used to calm the patient so he or she can relax during dental procedures. At SIMA Dental, we offer two types of sedation, nitrous oxide or oral sedation.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous Oxide

Also known more commonly as laughing gas, nitrous oxide has been used for over a century as a sedative to calm patients. The patient breathes in a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen and begins to relax. This sedation method does not cause a loss of consciousness; it merely produces an enjoyable relaxed feeling. When the dental procedure is completed, the patient is given oxygen to clear the system of the nitrous oxide. There are no after effects from this type of sedation.

Oral Sedation

Oral Sedation

This form of sedation is administered by way of a pill that is taken a few minutes prior to the dental procedure. Once the sedation begins to work, you will feel calm and relaxed. Some people feel slightly drowsy. Oral sedation does not leave you unconscious. You still have awareness. It is important to have someone available to drive you home after your appointment, because the effects may last for up to eight hours, depending on which type of sedation medicine is administered and how your body reacts to it

Dentures and Partials

Dentures & Partials

Missing teeth can ruin your smile and make you feel self-conscious. Replacing those teeth with dentures or partial dentures can restore your self-confidence, give you the ability to eat healthy foods and restore your smile. Full dentures are used to replace an entire arch of missing teeth. They are removable and easy to maintain. Partial dentures are used when several teeth are missing, but some remain. They are also recommended when bridgework is not an option.

Dental Implants

Dental Implants

The success rate of dental implants and their aesthetic qualities are moving them into the forefront as a method for replacing missing teeth. An implant can be used to replace a single tooth, create an abutment for dental bridgework or a few can secure a denture. A thorough dental exam and consultation with Dr. Rahgozar will help determine if you are a good candidate for dental implants.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening

This is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures performed worldwide. This simple treatment can make you look younger as your teeth become whiter than ever. Dark colored foods and beverages can stain teeth over time, making them look dull and dingy. Smoking can also stain your teeth. Dingy, stained teeth cause you to look older. Professional whitening can make your teeth several shades whiter. When you see the before and after results of your whitening process, you are sure to be amazed at the difference.
