Why Is Fluoride Important For Teeth

Fluoride is a naturally existing mineral found in the earth’s crust. It is often added to certain foods, water supplies, and oral hygiene products to prevent tooth decay. When fluoride ions are incorporated with the tooth enamel, they increase its strength and create strong resistance against cavity-causing bacteria.

Fluoride can also help in the remineralization of the tooth enamel, which helps stop the progression of early cavities. Due to these benefits, our dentists suggest fluoride treatments in Channelview, TX, to keep your child’s teeth healthy and free of cavities for a long time.

    Questions About Fluoride Treatments?

Which Age Is Ideal For Children To Get Fluoride Treatment

Children with newly erupted primary teeth are more susceptible to tooth decay. This may occur because of high sugar intake in the form of sweets or candies and lack of proper oral care. This is why our Channelview dentists recommend fluoride treatment from an early age.

The treatment can be done first around the age of 6 to 12 months. As your child begins to develop permanent teeth, we suggest reapplication of fluoride varnish to protect them from decay. This treatment can be done more than once a year, depending on your child’s oral health needs.

What Happens During Fluoride Treatment in Channelview, TX

Our compassionate team understands that most children feel anxious before dental treatments. With our calming environment and kid-friendly team, your child will feel at ease at the time of their appointment. We also offer different flavors of fluoride solutions to make the process more enjoyable for kids.

During the process, we will first clean and rinse the tooth surfaces. Then, our dentist will apply a fluoride gel or varnish and leave it for a certain duration. When the time limit is over, we will carefully rinse the solution. The overall treatment is completely painless and takes less than an hour.

    FAQs

Why should my child get fluoride treatment?
Fluoride treatment from an early age increases the strength of the tooth enamel and helps prevent tooth decay.
Can adults also get fluoride treatment?

Yes, it is a safe treatment for both children and adults that acts as a preventive measure against cavities.

How long after the treatment can my child eat or drink?

Your child should not eat or drink anything for at least an hour after the treatment. This allows the fluoride ions to penetrate the enamel fully.

    What People Say About Us

I would highly recommend this dental office to anyone looking for a dentist. The office staff was very helpful and friendly, the wait time was very minimal. From the time we started the exam till when we left we felt comfortable. Dr.Nguyen and his assistant made my daughter feel very comfortable and at ease throughout her entire procedure by explaining each step as they went.

Lovely staff and great doctor. He talks you through everything and is very personable. We moved about 45 mins away but will still make the drive to see Dr. Nguyen. I gave 4 stars because after I brought my husband after I had a great visit, we had to remind the staff that we weren't being tended to and just waiting in one of the exam rooms.

    ~ Kimberly U.

Dr Reza Rahgozar, Dr Smith and staff took amazing care of me. I hadn't been to a dentist in almost 4 years and they gave me a thorough deep cleaning and evaluation. He scanned my whole mouth in 3D and is going to use the 3D scan to make some Invisalign type guards to protect and straighten my teeth. None of it hurt and was comfortable the whole time. Felt like hanging out with an old friend.
