What Is Gum Disease
Gum disease, or periodontal disease, affects the supportive structures of your teeth, including your gums, periodontal tissues, and jawbones. The major cause of this condition is poor oral hygiene, which leads to plaque accumulation on the tooth surfaces. It provides a gateway to harmful oral bacteria that cause inflammation of the gum tissues.
Questions About Gum Disease Treatment?
Warning Signs of Gum Disease
You may not notice any signs during the initial phase, but these changes become more prominent as periodontal disease progresses. Common signs include:
- Gum inflammation or redness
- Frequent gum bleeding
- Receding gums
- Increased tooth sensitivity
- Dull ache in the teeth or gums
- Difficulty eating food
- Food trapping between teeth
- Bad breath or foul taste
- Loose teeth
If you notice any of these changes in your oral cavity, we urge you to seek our dental professionals for gum disease treatment in Channelview, TX. It can help preserve your healthy teeth and prevent further complications in the future.
Comprehensive Gum Disease Treatment
Our dental experts routinely examine periodontal health as a part of our dental checkups. If we detect early signs of gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) or periodontal disease, we will take immediate measures to halt its progression. Regular dental cleanings and at-home oral care are often sufficient for those with mild signs of this condition.
However, if you present with receding gums or early bone loss, our Channelview dentists may recommend non-surgical gum disease therapy. It involves scaling and root planing to deeply clean the tooth surfaces and eliminate harmful bacteria. We may also place antibiotics beneath the gumline to reduce the chances of recurrence.

What People Say About Us
I would highly recommend this dental office to anyone looking for a dentist. The office staff was very helpful and friendly, the wait time was very minimal. From the time we started the exam till when we left we felt comfortable. Dr.Nguyen and his assistant made my daughter feel very comfortable and at ease throughout her entire procedure by explaining each step as they went.

Lovely staff and great doctor. He talks you through everything and is very personable. We moved about 45 mins away but will still make the drive to see Dr. Nguyen. I gave 4 stars because after I brought my husband after I had a great visit, we had to remind the staff that we weren't being tended to and just waiting in one of the exam rooms.

Dr Reza Rahgozar, Dr Smith and staff took amazing care of me. I hadn't been to a dentist in almost 4 years and they gave me a thorough deep cleaning and evaluation. He scanned my whole mouth in 3D and is going to use the 3D scan to make some Invisalign type guards to protect and straighten my teeth. None of it hurt and was comfortable the whole time. Felt like hanging out with an old friend.
